How to become a computer programmer

A bachelor’s degree in computers is the most common route into computer programming. This degree could be in computer science, mathematics or information technology. If your skills are fresh enough, an associate’s degree may suffice, but a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computers should provide the best career advancement prospects.
